In 2.0.3, Capsuleer has added many new features, including support for a number of new OS 3.0 features!
For all devices…
* A new help system has been added which will guide you though all of Capsuleer’s many features.
* The ability to reorder the pilot list has been included, making it easy to change the order whenever you want.
* The skill queue now has the addition of hour “tick” marks to provide a precise view of skill times and to mimic the in game skill queue display.
* Pilot refreshing has been optimized and is now much faster for pilots with a lot of skills.
* Stories will now expire correctly and be removed 7 days after being read.
* Additional optimizations, fixes, and cleanup have been made to the display, graphics.
For devices running OS 3.0…
* Shake your device to refresh any screen that has a refresh button.
* Push notifications are now included and will alert you when a skill queue dips under 24 hours.
As always we love your feedback. Jump on over to the forums and give us a shout. We’re always obsessively refreshing looking for new posts to reply to (well at least I am. I think everybody else has more of a life :-))

20,002 is a nice number

Where to start?
Massively has posted a nice new article entitled Top 5 Eve Online Apps, and our beloved Capsuleer is ranked #3, placing only behind EveMon and EFT! That feels good.
Additionally, as of Sunday August 10th, 2009, Capsuleer has reached 20,002 users!
Thanks once again to our incredibly supportive community for reaching this incredible goal!
What else is exciting?
v2.0.3 is just around the corner, with many small, but nice enhancements, and once that’s out the door it leaves us solely focused on v2.1 with Faction Warfare statistics and the Agent Finder, and perhaps even more…
Skill Queues? Huh..

I have noticed a few people lately asking if Capsuleer has support for the skill queue or where the skill queue can be found.
First off YES Capsuleer supports skill queues. It has since the 2.0 release.
Now, how do you see your skill queue?
When viewing your pilot details you can touch the currently training skill. IF you have a skill queue you will be taken to it. If you don’t have a skill queue it will just take you to the skill description for the currently training skill.
So fear not. Capsuleer does queues! But if you don’t have one there isn’t much to display.
I’ll be changing that behavior in the next release (2.0.3) though. It will go straight to the queue even if you only have a single skill in the queue. Enough people have commented about it that I think it needs to be changed.
Also on a separate (yet related) note, comments that are added to reviews on the iTunes store can’t be replied to. All I can see is the iTunes username and the comment. I can’t reply to any comment posted (I have no way of knowing how to contact a user who asks a question in a comment either).
The best way to get in contact with us is by heading over to the forums (http://capsuleer.evesuite.com/forums). We keep an eye on them and post often. We’ll do our best to answer any questions or troubleshoot any problems you might have.
Shhhh… Quiet, you’ll wake the devs.

Well, its been a while since I’ve posted to our dev blog. Sorry about that. I’ll try to post more frequently in the future.
We’re still here though and have been working diligently on 2.0.3 and 2.1 at the same time.
Since we are getting close to submitting to apple I’ll give y’all a little run of what you can expect to see.
2.0.3
- Improved character refreshing (much faster for characters with a lot of skills)
- Shake to refresh any screen that has a refresh button (OS 3.0 only)
- Copy/Paste support for adding pilots (OS 3.0 only)
- Ability to re-order of pilots on the pilots list screen
- Optimizations to some drawing code.
And of course saving the best for last.
- Push notifications when skill queues are less then 24 hours. (OS 3.0 only)
When the release has been submitted to Apple for approval I’ll make another post with more detailed information about each new feature.
Now you’ll notice there are lots of fun OS 3.0 features that we are adding to 2.0.3, but fear not OS 2.x people. Capsuleer will still continue to run on devices running that firmware. You just won’t get the new features that require OS 3.0
There are a few little glitches to work out with the push notifications, but we’re getting close to being done.
2.1.0
2.1 is a little further off. Once 2.0.3 is in the bag we’ll be directing our attention to 2.1 full time. It will include Faction Warfare statistics as well as an Agent search (you already see those icons staring back at you taunting you).
I am sure we’ll sneak some other stuff in as usual though.
2.2.0 and beyond
We have some great ideas that we are prototyping and refining for future versions. User suggestions on the forums have been fantastic but we’re always looking for more. They really help us prioritize things and decide what features make it into future versions.
Some ideas people know about, some… well lets just say we have a few ideas still up our sleeves.
There ya go. A little update from the land of code and phones…
If anybody has any questions feel free to jump on over to the forums and post away. We’re always keeping an eye on them and reply as soon as we can. (http://capsuleer.evesuite.com/forums)
Thanks again for using Capsuleer. We really appreciate the support of the community.
Fly safe.

Problem with Capsuleer server on June 18th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm EST

On June 18th between 2:00pm EST and 4:00pm EST there was a problem with the Capsuleer server that caused the server status of both Tranquility and Singularity to be incorrectly reported as offline.
The problem occurred when I made a change to the firewall to protect a new service that we’ll be bringing online in the future for Capsuleer. I incorrectly blocked access to the EVE servers and the batch processes were unable to connect to the servers to perform a status check. Because of the inability to connect the processes assumed that the servers were offline.
Service is now restored and the servers should have their status correctly updated.
I apologize for this mistake and will do everything I can to prevent a similar one in the future.

With great power comes great responsibility… To move to OS 3.0 or not?

With the release of OS 3.0 there will be some new features we can use (of most interest is the Push Notifications for skill completion).
But this also brings up a delema.
OS 3.0 is a $10 upgrade charge for iPod Touch users. By upgrading Capsuleer to use the new features in OS 3.0 we would require to have upgraded their device to that version of the OS. Phone users are covered cause that upgrade is free, but the touch users would have to pay.
There isn’t a way to deploy multiple versions of Capsuleer that require multiple versions of the OS (well without making an app called Capsuleer – OS 2.2.1 and Capsuleer – OS 3.0, but that just lends its self to confusion).
I am looking for input from the community here. Are people with iPod touches planning on upgrading? Is this a moot point? Should I not worry about this? Are crispy fries really crispier then normal fries cooked longer?
I don’t want to exclude any part of the community from using Capsuleer. By upgrading to use OS 3.0 features I am attaching a $10 price tag to Capsuleer for iPod touch users.
Weight in. Cast your vote. Let me know your views. It will all help me make the decision.

Skill Queue API bug
Posted on May 1, 2009
Filed Under Support | 2 Comments
A few users have been experiencing problems recently with their API within Capsuleer.
After much digging, it’s come to light that Skill Queues, alts, and the API aren’t currently playing well together.
IF you have any alts with paused skill queues, this will break the API, making it impossible to retrieve ANY information for that account.
The solution is to remove any skill queues you have from alts. This has been verified to correct the problem.

Well its official, yesterday (April 28th) we passed the 10,000 install mark. The past two days have just been a fury of installs thanks to the ad being displayed in-game.
I just want to say to every one, thanks for giving Capsuleer a try. The community is what keeps us doing this.
And as a gift back to you the community I offer up a little image I have been working on.
This image is made up of just some of the players that have been added to Capsuleer.
(Sadly for you folks reading this through Capsuleer you will have to visit http://capsuleer.evesuite.com/blog on your desktop to see the picture in all its glory since flash doesn’t work on the phone. And yes the irony of this doesn’t get lost on me :-P hahahaha)
And so without further delay, I present
Capsueer – 10,000 installs!
Also if you feel like chatting jump on over to our forums at http://capsuleer.evesuite.com/forums.
Looking forward to the next 10,000 :-)
